Nonsequitur: Should Nobel Peace Prize Winners Have A Kill List?

October 24, 2012

A line, of course, from the  “Obama That I Used To Know” parady video.  But Timothy Carney points out that President Obama has in fact ordered the killing of suspected terrorists and even an American citizen without due process.  He violated the War Powers Act by authorizing military action in Libya.  Where, Carney asks, is the peace movement?  And why does the press refuse to question the President’s use of “killer drones and illegal wars” to pursue his agenda?

Yes, we did kill Bin Laden and a number of other terrorists.  But that didn’t stop al Qaeda from attacking our Libyan embassy or the Taliban from infiltrating our training groups in Afghanistan.  It certainly didn’t stop the violent protests that occurred all around the globe last month.  It hasn’t stopped Hamas from shooting missles into Israel.  Iran still pursues nuclear weapons.

As Romney put it in the last debate, “We can’t kill our way out of this mess.”
