Nonsequitur: Dereliction of Duty?

February 7, 2013

The high profile consulate at Benghazi, Libya is attacked and neither the President nor the Secretary of Defense is available to deal with the crisis?  According to the Secretary of Defense and the Chairman of the Chief Joints of Staff, NO ONE at the White House and NO ONE at the State Department contacted the Defense Department to request support or to check on status of the consulate all evening long on September 11, 2012.

According to the White House Schedule, President Obama was in Washington DC and had nothing scheduled for the evening of September 11, 2012.  (Of course, on September 12th, the day after the attack, the President campaigned in Las Vegas, NV.)  According to the State Department Public Schedule, Secretary Clinton was in Washington DC and had nothing scheduled for the evening of September 11, 2012.  (You’ll find more on the timeline of the Benghazi attack here.)

Why didn’t the President or the Secretary of State  or any member of their staff contact the Department of Defense?   They failed in their responsibilities to the Americans who lost their lives in Benghazi and the American people as a whole.  This administration is guilty either of gross incompentance or gross dereliction of duty.
