Money to Burn: Military Builds $34 Million HQ But Won’t Use It

A letter from John F. Sopko, Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, details how the US Military constructed a state-of-the art headquarters building in Afghanistan that will not be used.  In fact, construction on the $34 million building continued despite an internal request several years ago to stop the project.  The building is now finished, and will either be demolished or turned over to the Afghan government.
