Cinema Verite: Credibility

My credibility is not on the line. The international community’s credibility is on the line. And America and Congress’ credibility is on the line, because (otherwise) we give lip service to the notion that these international norms are important.  – Barack Obama, 9/4/13

Someone should let the President know that “credibility” cannot be self-assigned.  It doesn’t matter what HE thinks of his own credibility.  It matters whether the international community, America and Congress believe he is honest and reliable.  “Credibility” is earned through experience.  And experience has apparently taught our allies and enemies that President Obama is not credible.

It probably didn’t help that the President said yesterday, “I did not set a red line, the world set a red line.”  Because we all remember this:
