One year after the attack on our Libya consulate that left Ambassador Stevens and three others dead, no one has been arrested, jailed, or executed for his role in the murder of four Americans. The four mid-level officials identified by the Accountability Review Board as at fault for the attack were placed on paid, administrative leave and, last month, reinstated without disciplinary action. The Review Board itself was found negligent by the Inspector General for failing to interview key witnesses (such as Secretary of State Clinton). Unanswered questions include who made the decision to “stand down”, who edited the “talking points,” why more than 30 CIA staff were on site during the attack, whether or not weapons were stolen in the attack and why inadequate security for the consulate was allowed even after requests from consulate officials were received by the State department.
