Nonsequitur: Only 6,949,000 More to Go

October 14, 2013

According to the Congressional Budget Office, the Affordable Care Act will only be financially viable if at least 7,000,000 people enroll under the Healthcare Exchanges. The Healthcare Exchange enrollment period is open for just 6 months. Neither President Obama nor Secretary of Health Sebelius could answer how many signed up during the first week of the program. However, the London Mail is reporting from sources inside HHS that only 51,000 enrolled.

Will we make the 7 million enrollment target by spring? The same folks who promised us the ACA would be ready to go by October, then granted delays to employers and unions, and now don’t know how many have actually enrolled, assure us it will all work out. (Just like they assured us the ACA would bring down healthcare costs, let you keep your current coverage and doctor, and not affect Medicare or Medicaid.)
