Nonsequitur: Negotiating with Iran

November 25, 2013

Is the newly negotiated nuclear interim accord with Iran a good agreement? I really don’t know. But I do know that due to President Obama’s failure to improve relations in the Middle East (during a time of rising democracy) and his failure to deal with Syria’s use of chemical weapons, we are negotiating from a position of weakness. Our enemies do not fear us. Our allies do not trust us. If Iran truly does “pause” its nuclear program for 6 months, I suppose that’s a good thing. But if Iran wouldn’t stop when President Bush was pressuring them strongly, why would they stop for Obama?

However, you may be interested in reading the history of negotiations with Iran. The Washington Post has a brief timeline available here.
