Nonsequitur: Obamacare’s Fees for Service

Along with higher premiums, higher deductibles and higher co-pays, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) also adds a number of fees paid by the consumer either directly (e.g., a 3.5 percent user fee for purchasing a policy through the new government-run marketplaces) or indirectly as insurance companies pass on processing fees to customers. Many of these fees are mandated not just for individual policies, but for employer policies as well. Employers are expected to pass the costs of these fees on to workers. Ben Sutherly at the Columbus Dispatch lists many of these new health care fees.
