Nonsequitur: Lying for Our Own Good?

December 10, 2014

The Progressive view of truth seems extremely flexible these days.

"...we'll tell them they can keep their plans..."

“…we’ll tell them they can keep their plans…”

First, we had the claims that Obamacare would lower health care costs, and let you keep your policy and doctor, without raising the deficit. Thanks to Mr. Gruber, we now know that they knew all along it was a lie. Then we had the Benghazi debacle, with its spontaneous violence spurred by a YouTube video. Actually, intelligence reports identified it as a terrorist attack from the beginning. The President expresses shock over “alleged” wrong doing at the IRS, but we learn the IRS has been providing tax information directly to the White House.

The media can’t bother to verify facts about the UVA rape scandal or even fact-check a best selling liberal tome by the new lefty “it girl.” Even social activists don’t seem to care about the truth, continuing the “Hands up! Don’t Shoot!” meme that has been proven by hard scientific facts to be false.

I know how the Progressive leadership will respond: “What difference, at this point, does it make?” (Hillary Clinton, 2013). Progressives don’t seem to care about truth, facts, or actual data. They only care about the “progress” of their own agenda. If truth is a casualty of the culture wars, so be it.

I miss the good old days when we had “liberals” instead of “progressives.” Then we knew who was going to “speak truth to power” instead of lie their way to the top.
