Nonsequitur: US Manufacturing Down in April

June 2, 2015

According to the Commerce Department, new orders for manufactured goods in April, down eight of the last nine months, decreased $1.8 billion or 0.4 percent to $476.7 billion. Shipments were basically unchanged (durable goods down 0.2%, non-durable goods up 0.2%). Not terrible news, since manufacturing was up in March. But that was the only positivie month so far this year (and since last August).
