Nonsequitur: Insurers Lose $2.5 Billion Under Obamacare

Medical insurers lobbied strongly in favor of the ACA, but, as predicted, the new taxes and regulations led to billions of dollars of losses, despite mandatory patient enrollment and a huge increase in patients covered. Now that Congress has restricted taxpayer dollars from covering risk corridor costs, these losses will be real. Unfortunately, barring a repeal of Obamacare, the likely results will be even higher premiums and co-pays. In other words, the insurers won’t cover the losses – patients will.
