Nonsequitur: Unemployment Under 5%
February 5, 2016
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that unemployment is at 4.9%. That is the lowest it has been for a long time. However, 2.1 million people are still classified as “long term unemployed,” and 6 million people are still employed part-time for economic reasons (meaning they want to work full-time but can’t find a full-time job). The labor force participation rate is still at 62.7 percent.
