An election special explaining things
February 17, 2014
Concerned about a stagnant economy with fewer and fewer people working? Don’t be.
Governor Kitzhaber (D, Oregon) explains: “Economic growth and social well-being are not the same thing, necessarily.” He knows this because he attended a conference on the Gross National Happiness Index in Bhutan. (Bhutan, as most people know, is the happiest place on earth. Or is that Disneyland?) Oregon currently has one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation, and their new Healthcare Market Cover Oregon, is a spectacular failure. But don’t worry. Be happy.
The Governor isn’t the only Democrat urging you to mellow out. When the CBO announced that Obamacare would be killing millions of jobs, the Obama administration and Congressional allies shrugged their shoulders:
“We noted that as part of this new day in health care, Americans would no longer be trapped in a job just to provide coverage for their families and would have the opportunity to pursue their dreams.” – Jay Carney
“(The ACA is) a bill that says to someone, if you want to be creative and be a musician or whatever, you can leave your work, focus on your talent, your skill, your passion.” – Nancy Pelosi
Sure you had your work hours cut, lost your affordable health plan and your favorite doctor, and you’ll pay more for coverage. But don’t worry. Be happy.
If you are one of the long-term unemployed, don’t worry. You can get food stamps. If you lost a good paying job and now have to work two or three part-time positions to make the mortgage payment, don’t worry. The Obama administration wants to raise minimum wage to $10/hr. If you are a new college graduate with $40K in debt and no job prospects, don’t worry. You can probably take out more loans to go to graduate school. (Plenty of room for Social Justice majors.)
Sure, you could be upset that the stimulus failed, Obamacare is making things worse, our relations with the rest of world are deteriorating rapidly, the government is spying on you, we are $17 trillion in debt and no one in Washington really cares. But, in the words of Hillary Rodham Clinton, “What difference, at this point, does it really make?”
Just sit back, relax, and listen to the official theme song of the Obama Administration.
President Obama and NJ Governor Chris Christie continued their mutual man crush while touring the Jersey Boardwalk. The day out culminated with Christie winning the President a teddy bear at the arcade. (Photos are available here.)

Great arrangement and performance of the National Anthem at President Obama’s second Inauguration.
Update: Verite? It seems Beyoncé lip sync’ed.
