Nonsequitur: Russia “Resets” with China

In 1972, President Richard Nixon visited China, opening diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China. Despite its communist government, the US began a relationship with China that shifted the balance of power in the Cold War, putting pressure on the USSR and its satellites.
In 2009, the Obama administration, headed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, announced their intention to “reset” relations with Russia and (then) Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. This attempt, we now know, failed. President Obama has been equally ineffective at moving China away from its aggressive economic and military policies.
However, earlier this month, President Putin met with Chinese President Xi Jinping to sign multiple agreements on both economic and military issues. President Putin affirmed: “Today China is our key strategic partner.”
President Obama promised he would bring change to America, and he has. Our enemies stand stronger and united against us. Our friends have lost trust in us. Economically and militarily, we are weaker as the dangers around us increase.
